The unique timber-filled facade gives an appealing clue as to the beautiful design that unfolds through the front door. Stunning wooden features of all tones and textures play off against a striking neutral palette, from custom cabinetry and a floating timber bed to beamed ceilings that evoke the feel of a tropical island getaway. Timber is also used to great effect in one of the home’s most surprising and enticing features – a semi-outdoor bathroom that lets you indulge in a soak or shower while surrounded by private subtropical rainforest as you gaze directly into the lush green canopy.

At its heart lies the central gathering zone upstairs, which is bathed in natural sunlight and flows across a massive lounge, dining space and kitchen, all set up to cater for large groups. From here, sliding glass doors open to an expansive lounging deck overlooking the rainforest. It’s the ideal spot to curl up for a chat, escape with a good book or even just let the rainforest sounds serve as an afternoon lullaby. Other inviting outdoor spaces include a wooden deck surrounding the inground pool downstairs and a private balcony off the master bedroom.

As befits its reputation as one of Queensland’s finest beach houses, the property lies just steps from the surfing mecca that is north-facing First Point. Catch your fill of the action on the waves and then head around to Main Beach, where the golden expanse of sand leads down to crystal clear waters that shimmer and sparkle in the sun.

Nearby is iconic Hastings St, where a cosmopolitan mix of retail and restaurants offers the chance to browse, buy or indulge yourself with family-friendly or five-star feasting that makes the most of the area’s local produce.
